About Dr Michele Batey
My philosophy is to provide woman-centred care. In other words, to involve the woman (and her partner) in the decisions surrounding their care, in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
I limit the number of patients I see in order to allow plenty of time to make a thorough assessment of a patient and also allow them as much time as they need to ask questions.
I am known for my calm, caring manner and my ability to develop rapport with my patients. I have been in private practice on the North Shore of Sydney for over 20 years, and in that time have delivered over 3000 babies.
I have particular expertise in pregnancy care for women over the age of 35 and their specific pregnancy needs. I also have a special interest in working with women who have experienced previous birth trauma and helping them have a better birth experience.
I am also a mother of two young boys, which gives me additional insights into the world of motherhood.
I enjoy running, cycling, skiing and music, having recently taken up the piano and singing.
I obtained my medical degree at the University of Sydney where I graduated with honours. I also received the prize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I then completed my specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecolology at Royal North Shore Hospital, receiving my Fellowship in 2002.
I also have a Masters of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) which allows me to critically appraise research and provide the most evidence based care. I have been a VMO at North Shore Private Hospital and The Mater Hospital since 2003 and Royal North Shore Hospital from 2005.
In my practice I work with Clarissa, my Practice Manager who perfectly compliments my philosophy with her warm and caring approach to patients.
